Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., G.V.R. (M.3164 A. J. Rounsefell. C.E.R.A.2 H.M.S. Venetia), very fine

Alfred John Rounsefell was born at Gillingham, Kent on 25 June 1890 and he joined the Royal Navy on 4 July 1911. He served on Tamar from 3 July-1 December 1914, then Blenheim from 2 December 1914-30 September 1916. Rounsefell served aboard the submarine chaser Idaho P35 from 21 March-23 July 1917 and was awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal on 26 September 1926.

During the Second World War he served on both the Eastern and Western Isles and was released on 10 October 1945.
