Ernest Richard White was born at Ramsgate in 1899, the son of Henry and Kate White, who were living at 19 Benworth Street, Bow by the time of the Great War. He served initially with the Rifle Brigade but was killed in action on 27 September 1918 whilst serving with the 7th Battalion, King's Shropshire Light Infantry and is buried in the Lowrie Cemetery; sold together with copied research including two photographs of the recipient.
