Joseph Richardson was born at Cauldon, Ashbourne in 1896 and served on Gallipoli with the North Staffordshire Regiment from 17 September 1915. Transferred to the Western Front, he was killed in action whilst serving with the 10th Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers on 18 September 1918 and is buried in the Gouzeaucourt British Cemetery.
