Iron Age Britain, Uninscribed Coinage (c. 80-50 BC), "Insular Series CF", Stater, Kentish Issues, degraded profile of Apollo right, rev. horse right, abstract rider above with numerous large pellets, eye with pellet border behind, 4.98g, 12h, 12mm. x 2mm. diameter/thickness (VA -; Mack -; BMC -; Sills 457-459; ABC 515; Spink 20A), bent and scuffed with evidence of waterwear, otherwise largely centred on an elliptical flan, struck details about fine but rather rough, nevertheless very rare, one of the earliest native struck gold coins with a secure British provenance
