Iron Age Gallo-Belgica, Remi or Treveri (1st Century BC), AV Stater "à l'œil" or 'Augenstater', c. 50 BC, large eye looking right, abutted by zigzag line surmounted by row of globules, rev. realistic horse prancing left, V-pointed and surrounded by beaded cord above back, pointed ringlet encircled by beaded cord between legs, 6.22g, 9h (Scheers, Traité, 222ff; LT 8799; DT 173-174; ABT 307), a striking example of this distinctive issue, lustrous and pleasingly bold across key devices, further accentuated by a richer yellow-gold fabric, good very fine, very rare as a contextualised British find
