1867 (7 Dec.) envelope to Capt. H,R, Elliot, commanding K company of the Madras Sappers and Miners, Field Force Abyssinia bearing India 4a. green tied by manuscript "Stamped" and Bangalore duplex and sent "Via Bombay", the reverse with Bombay transit (11.12) and a fine strike of the "field force post office/abyssinia" c.d.s. (29.12) struck in red. This is the earliest recorded use of this datestamp. A good early letter from when the base camp was being established. Photo
