Abyssinian Field Force
1868 (10 June) envelope to London "Via Marseilles/Officer Letter" bearing India 6a.8p. tied by manuscript "Stamped/10.6.68" and marked "Stanley Edwards Capt./D.A.Q.M. General/Head Quarters" with Suez transit (13.6) alongside and London arrival (29.6) on the reverse. This may well have been carried on the last mail boat serving the force.

Also 1868 (16 June) a similar letter from the same correspondence bearing 6a. 8p. tied by manuscript "Stamped/16.6.68" and Aden "124" numeral, with handstruck boxed "insufficient" struck on blue and postage due calculations for 7½d. alongside, both cancelled in ink, the reverse with Aden Steamer c.d.s. (16.6) and London arrival (4.7). An interesting pair of cover from the conclusion of the expedition. (2 covers). Photo
