Abyssinian Field Force
1868 (Apr.) small envelope to London "Via Marseilles" bearing India 8p. and 4a. green pair tied by manuscript "Stamped 8 annas + 8 pies" and each cancelled by the barred "F.F." postmark (paying the civilian postal rate); marked in the corner "R. Holmes/Magdala/Abyssinia" and with faint London arrival (18.5) c.d.s. The reverse with a light strike of Field Force c.d.s. in red (23.4) and the barred "F.F." also in red. The envelope is somewhat soiled, possibly from water damage. A very desirable cover sent from Magdala. Photo
