Edward the Confessor (1042-1066), 'Hammer Cross' Type, Penny, 1059-1062, Guildford, Blacman, + EADPAR•-RD RE, crowned bust right, sceptre before, rev. + BLAEEMAN ON GLDF, voided short cross with 'hammer cross' terminals, 1.16g [17.9grns], 9h (SCBI -; North 828; BMC XI; Spink 1182), some slight softness to parts of the portait, yet the reverse with a most pleasing blue tone, good very fine, evidently an extremely rare issue for this mint and moneyer, with no parallel on EMC or SCBI
