Edward the Confessor (1042-1066), 'Sovereign Eagles' Type, Penny, Hastings, Brid, EADPRD R - ANGOR, King crowned and seated, holding sceptre and orb, rev. + BRID ON HÆSTIEN : voided short cross, eagles in angles, 1.29g [19.9grns], 12h (Freeman 7; SCBI 42 [South Eastern], 1362; North 827; BMC IX; Spink 1181), richly cabinet tone, a beautifully uniform and bold striking, much above the standard usually encountered even for this more common mint for type, a most pleasing extremely fine, rare in this exemplary state
