Guernsey Identity Card, No. 6827, issued to 'Walter Stanley Rich', with his photograph stapled to the card and German overstamps, also noting 'Scars on left leg', very fine

Walter Stanley Rich was born on Guernsey on 16 July 1890. During the Great War he served in 'D' Company, 6th Battalion, Royal Irish Regiment as a Sergeant on the Western Front, Salonika, Egypt and in Palestine after its formation (1914-15 Star Trio). He suffered with malaria in September 1917 and was transferred to the Labour Corps. During the Second World War he lived at Ramleh Rouge and at Mon Teviot, Giba Uderie, St Peter Port.
