Jersey Identity Card, No. 2577, issued to 'Maurice Lucien Beghin', with his photograph stapled to the card, very fine

Maurice Lucien Beghin was born at St Helier, Jersey on 21 February 1893. During the Great War he served in France with the Royal Field Artillery from 13 November 1914. Beghin was rewarded with the Royal Victorian Medal (Silver) upon the visit of HM The King to the Western Front 7 August 1918, when he was with the Intelligence Department, attached to the Royal Party.

His family were the shoe retailers on Jersey and during the German Occupation, Beghin was involved in the Food & Clothing Committee that went to France in 1942 to procure supplies for the civilian population.
