Three: Private Arthur Charles Wright, Royal Air Force, late 8th Battalion, Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry, who served in France throughout the Great War before transferring to the Royal Air Force and seeing service as an Observer in India with No. 5 Squadron

Arthur Charles Wright was born at Crewe, Chester on 6 August 1896. Enlisting with the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry on 2 January 1915 he was posted to France with 8th Battalion on 6 May 1915. This Battalion served here until 13 November when they were transferred to Salonica. Wright remained with them for the duration of the war, being transferred to the reserve on 14 June 1919.
Re-enlisting with the Royal Air Force on 9 February 1920 Wright was assigned the rank Aircraftman Class II. Posted to No. 5 Squadron at Quetta, India on 22 April 1920 he specialised as a photographer and was promoted Aircraftman Class I on 1 February 1921. Flying as a photographer with the Squadron's Bristol Fighters he was promoted Leading Aircraftman on 1 February 1922. Return to Britain on 25 February 1923 Wright was further promoted Corporal on 21 March 1923 at Uxbridge. Posted to No. 10 Group at Lee-on-Solent he was discharged to the Reserve on 8 February 1924; sold together with original discharge papers, pension forms and statement of services as well as Flying Log Book and Aerial Photography booklet as well as copied research including M.I.C., R.A.F. service papers and typed research.
