Victory Medal 1914-19 (308708 H. C. Roberts. S.P.O. R.N.), edge bruising, minor contact marks, very fine

Henry Charles Roberts was born at Woolwich on 24 September 1886. Enlisting on 11 August 1905 he served as a Stocker class II in the years leading up to the Great War. Promoted Stoker Petty Officer on 12 February 1914 he was soon posted to H.M.S. Beagle, seeing the bulk of his war service with her in the Mediterranean. Her she saw action during the landings on Anzac Cove, serving as troopship for the 9th Queensland Regiment and later providing fire support. Present for the sinking of the Cornwallis, Roberts saw the rest of the war out aboard the Blonde from 14 November 1917. Promoted Chief Stoker on 1 December 1923 while aboard H.M.S. Bluebell, he was demobilised on 10 August 1927; sold together with a copied service record.
