A group of five covers with 'unclaimed' or 'loose letter' markings comprising two envelopes (1897 and 1899) with 'unclaimed' handstamps in red, 1894 envelope to Bay of Islands bearing 1d. rose pair tied by 'russell' c.d.s. and with single strike of 'loose letter' alongside, 1897 envelope to Auckland bearing 1d. rose (2) and 3d. tied by two strikes of 'loose letter' handstamp and with 'to pay/ 4d./ double deficient postage' alongside and 1897 envelope bearing 2d. lilac tied by 'lincoln' c.d.s and charged 2d. plus fine of 2d. in red at upper left for being ½oz. over weight; a useful and attractive group
