Frederick George Rex was born at Canterbury on 6 August 1895 and was a gardener upon his joining the Royal Navy on 15 October 1913. During the Great War he served upon Blenheim, 26 August 1914-10 July 1917, Implacable, 11 July-23 August 1917 and Grasshopper from 17 October 1917-15 February 1919. Pensioned ashore on 14 October 1935, he returned to the fold for the Second World War from 28 August 1939. Rex served aboard Lynx, Sandhurst, Tormentor from 5 October 1940 and Shrapnel.
