British War Medal 1914-20 (38873. 1. A.M. A. E. Holmes. R.A.F.), contact wear overall, edge bruising, nearly very fine

Albert Edward Holmes was born in 1885, the son of John and Ann Holmes of 13 Russell Terrace, St. David's, Exeter. Enlisting with the Royal Flying Corps on 17 July 1916 as an Air Mechanic Class II he was promoted Air Mechanic Class I on 1 July 1917 and transferred to the newly formed Royal Air Force on 1 April 1918. Holmes died of 'injuries self inflicted' on 13 June 1918. He is buried at Lapugnoy Military Cemetery; sold together with copied service records and Commonwealth War Graves details.
