1914 Star (12078 Sapr: J. Dea. R.E.), very fine
John Dea, a native of Bruff, County Limerick enlisted at Tipperary and served in France from 18 August 1914 with 26th Field Company, Royal Engineers. He was killed in action on 1 November 1914 and is commemorated upon the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. This is his sole surviving Medal as his British War and Victory Medals were returned and would have been destroyed.
