Three Private G. W. Bishop, 2nd/5th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment) who died of wounds on 2 October 1917

George William Bishop was born at Lichfield, Staffordshire on 16 March 1889, the son of William and Charlotte Bishop of Birmingham Row, Barton-under-Needwood, Burton-on-Trent. Enlisting at Burton-on-Trent with the 15th (Nottingham) Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment). Transferring at some stage to 2nd Battalion he later joined 2nd/5th Battalion and was mortally wounded while serving with this unit. Taken to Wimereux, likely for treatment he died on 2 October 1917; sold together with Commonwealth War Graves details.
