Three: Private F. A. Anderson, 12th Battalion (3rd Hull) Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment, who was killed in action on 12 November 1916, the day before the Battalion made a major attack on Serre

Frederick Albert Anderson was born at Hull, in 1887, the son of Matilda Anderson of 26 Beach Avenue, Hull. Enlisting there with the 12th (3rd Hull) Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment, also called the 'Hull Sportsmen' or the '3rd Hull Pals'. Anderson entered the war in Egypt on 28 December 1915, here the Battalion assumed positions on the Suez Canal Defences. Leaving for France in March 1916 they joined in the Battle of the Somme seeing action at Serre and Hebuterne. Moving into the line on 12 November in preparation for another attack in the vicinity of Serre however Anderson was killed in action prior to the assault. He was survived by his wife Greta Anderson of 9 Bruns Terrace, Hull and is commemorated upon the Thiepval Memorial; sold together with copied research including Commonwealth War Graves details, Medal Roll and M.I.C.
