Richard Nobles was born at Nottingham on 25 December 1892. He joined the 2nd Battalion, Sherwood Foresters in France on 8 September 1914 as part of the first draft of replacements sent out to them since the war began. Nobles was not with the Battalion for long however being taken prisoner at Lille on 20 November 1914; sold together with copied research including M.I.C. and prisoner of war list.
