George Richard Carter served in France from 1914 with 1st Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment). He transferred to the Royal Army Service Corps on 5 March 1918 and served with the rank of Driver until he was discharged on 31 March 1920.
