Alexander Jardine was born at Dumbarton in 1897, the son of William and Helen Jardine of 1 Meadow Bank Street, Dumbarton. He enlisted with the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) with the service number 20614, later transferring to 17th Battalion, Highland Light Infantry. Entering the war in France on 11 October 1915 Jardine was killed in action on 18 November 1916 and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial; sold together with copied M.I.C. and Commonwealth War Graves details.
