Frederick Lovell was born at Tring, Hertfordshire on 17 January 1890, the son of Alfred and Mary Lovell of Tring, Hertfordshire. Working as a dairyman in 1911, he later joined 13th (Service) Battalion (West Ham Boys), Essex Regiment. Entering the war in France on 17 November 1915 Lovell was killed in action when the Battalion was in trenches around Delville Wood. He is buried at Dantzing Alley British Cemetery, Mametz and was survived by his wife Mrs E. Lovell (later Stocker) of 1 Pinewood Cottages, Pinewood Road, Ash, Surrey; sold together with an original Essex Regiment cap badge and copied Commonwealth War Graves details.
