Four: Private E. Scoffield, 'A' Company, 1st/7th Battalion (Robin Hood), Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment) who was killed in action on 11 June 1915 in the trenches outside Kemmel

Ernest Scoffield was born at Lincoln, Lincolnshire in 1893, the son of Cecil and Elizabeth Scoffield of 9 Byron Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham. Working as a Patcher in 1911 while living in Nottingham Scoffield enlisted with the Territorial Force on 18 August 1906. Promoted Lance Corporal on 4 July 1913 he was embodied for service on 5 August 1918 and entered the war in France on 28 February 1915. The 7th (Robin Hood) Battalion were stationed in the line near Kemmel, South-East of Ypres and here on the 11 June 1915 Scoffield was killed in action. He was survived by his brother Serjeant John Henry Scoffield who was killed in action only a few months later on 3 December 1915. Scoffield is buried at Kemmel Chateau Military Cemetery; sold together with copied research including Commonwealth War Graves details for the recipient and his brother, killed on 3 December 1915 as well as original identity tags, letter of entitlement and newspaper clipping relating to the recipient's family in a leather Western Electric box.
