Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque (Albert Tinton), heavy contact wear to edge and reverse, nearly very fine

Albert Tinton was born at Barry, Glamorgan in 1894, the son of John Tinton of the Pump House, Gravels, Shropshire. Tinton enlisted with the Territorial Army at Pontypridd with 3rd (Royal Denbigh & Flint Militia) Reserve Battalion (SR) on 18 March 1912. He didn't take to Army life immediately being placed on a charge of insubordination with an added charge of laziness on 2 July 1912. Upon the outbreak of the Great War Tinton served in France from 27 December 1914 with 2nd Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers, being appointed Lance-Corporal on 12 February 1915 and further advanced Corporal on 26 September 1915. Again disciplined for neglect of duty while commanding the Depot Guard on 19 June 1916 this did little to impede his promotion to Sergeant on 22 August 1916. Tinton was killed in action on 23 April 1917 when his Battalion attacked the Hindenburg Line by the Sensee River. He is buried in the Wancourt British Cemetery; sold together with a typed biographical note.

Further entitled to 1914-15 Star Trio.
