G.P.O./Admiralty Period, 1806-40
1808 (Nov.) and 1811 (Dec.) entire letters ex the Watson & Astwood correspondence from London to Bermuda on the direct winter route, marked "p Packet", both showing London Paid datestamps with the first per "Princess Amelia", the second unusually sent by Admiralty vessel H.M.S. Mullett
Note: There were two routes depending on the weather. The winter route (November-February) Falmouth-Bermuda-New York-Halifax-Falmouth by packet throughout, and the summer route (March-October) Falmouth-Halifax-New York-Halifax-Falmouth with naval vessels carrying mail from Halifax to Bermuda and return until 1827.
