G.P.O./Admiralty Period, 1806-40
1814 (9 Mar.) and 1821 (1 Aug.) entire letters ex the Watson & Astwood correspondence from London to Bermuda marked "p Packet", both showing London Paid datestamp, the first rated "2/2" and carried by the "Express" to Halifax, the second rated "5d" and carried the "Queensbury" to Halifax then the "Vixen" to Bermuda
Note: During the War of 1812, naval vessels carried the mail and the route was changed to avoid New York.
