The Lost Collection of Simon English Esq. | Charles I (1625-1649), Group D, 'Finework' Half-Unite or Double-Crown, 1632-1633, Tower [under King], • CAROLVS • D .' G .' MAG .' BR .' FR .' ET • HI .' REX • (m.m.) •, larger crowned and draped sixth bust left, wearing falling lace collar, rev. CVLTORES SVI DEVS PROTEGIT, no stops, crowned oval-garnished shield, dividing crowned C-R, 4.51g [69.6grns], 7h, m.m. small harp / large harp (cf. Brooker 160; Schneider [1958/59], Pl. VII, no. 11 = Schneider II, 194 same obverse die; North 2167; Spink 2691), a remarkable coin, handsomely struck-up on a neat round flan, a minor metal flaw on cheek and scattered surface friction, otherwise residually brilliant, almost extremely fine, of the highest rarity, conceivably a 'prototype' for the Group D coinage
