The Lost Collection of Simon English Esq. | Edward III (1327-1377), Fourth Coinage, Treaty Period, Noble, 1363-1369, 'Treaty B', London, ED | WARD : DEI : GRA : REX : ANGL : DNS : hYB S AQ | T, double saltire stops, single before EDWARD, King standing in ship, holding sword and shield, ropes 3/2, quatrefoils 4/4, ornaments -11-11, rev. + IhC : AVTEM : TRANSIENS : PER : MEDIV : ILLORVM : IBAT, double saltire stops, ornate cross fleury, crowned leopards in angles, E at centre, 7.84g [121.2grns], 7h, p.m. -/cross pattée (Schneider I, 75-76; North 1231; Spink 1502), bright and lustrous, nevertheless a wondrous specimen, handsomely struck up across a broad and round flan, superficial friction in fields, otherwise extremely fine or very near so, surprisingly scarce in true 'mint state'
