1867 (8 Nov.) envelope (traces of ageing) carried on the Lafayette from France de France to Toul, signed on reverse by a Lieutenant Colonel and struck on front in blue by octagonal "corresp. d'armées/fort de france" datestamp, both validating the 20c. concessionary rate applied with marginal 20c., complete to huge margins, showing despatch c.d.s. and red French entry alongside, backstamped on receipt. Scarce. Maury 4. Also 1883 (21 June) envelope (faults) to Fort de France bearing 1881 15c. with red "corr d'armees lig-b-paq. no. 2" cancellation and repeated alongside, returned to sender as the addressee had died.
