Sikh Rulers of Patiala, Rajindar Singh (VS 1933-57; 1876-1900), gold Mohur, 10.68g, mint name off flan, VS(19)47 (1890), struck in the name of the Durrani ruler Ahmad Shah Abdali, katar to left of Patiala emblem (KM Y# 9), extremely fine / good extremely fine, a particularly fine and clearly struck coin, extremely rare

All Mohurs of Cis Sutlej states are rare. This coin has the partial year of issue on the reverse, which makes it particularly rare.

Ranindar Singh inherited the state from his father Mahindar Singh when still a child. He was educated in Cambridge University, and was also awarded the Grand Cross of the Star of India in 1897. A great sportsman, he is said to have had 365 wives, and died in a riding accident in 1900.
