Sikh Rulers of Patiala, Mahindar Singh (1862-76), Rupee, 11.00g, mint name off flan, undated, struck in the name of Ahmad Shah Durrani, dagger to left of Patiala emblem (KM Y# 3), natural edge irregularities, attractive dark toning, good very fine / about extremely fine

Mahindar Singh was the son of Narinder Singh, but inherited the throne while still a child. A regency ran the state until he came of age in 1870. He made many endowments and was appointed a Knight Grand Commander of the Order of the Star of India in 1870, but sadly died young.
