British War Medal 1914-20 (8717 Pte. D. J. Evans. Welsh. R.), minor contact marks, very fine

David John Evans was born at Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. Enlisting in Swansea with the 2nd Battalion, Welsh Regiment he entered the war at La Havre, France on 13 August 1914. The 2nd Battalion fought as part of 3rd Brigade during the early years of the war. Evans was killed in action at 4 May 1915 in the run up to the Battle of Aubers Ridge. He is listed as a Corporal upon his Medal Index Card and the 1914 Star roll and a Private on the British War and Victory Medal Roll. Further entitled to a 1914 Star with clasp and a Victory Medal.
