Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 4 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1902 (164 Pte. H. C. Travis. A.S.C.), sometime heavily cleaned, nearly very fine

Henry Charles Travis was born in 1881 at Mile End, London and enlisted in the Army Service Corps in April 1902. Having worked in Rhodesia, Travis re-enlisted in the 3rd Battalion (Rhodesian Platoon), King's Royal Rifle Corps and served in France from 21 December 1914. He died in London on 12 July 1915, of 'wounds suffered near Hill 60', being buried in West Norwood Cemetery on 17 July 1915. It was not until 1991 that a CWGC headstone was laid in his memory.
