Edward Charles Terry was born on 1 September 1892 at Edmonton, London and was a butcher upon his joining the Royal Navy on 21 April 1913. He served aboard Zealandia from 12 October 1913-25 July 1917 and remained in the Royal Navy after the Great War. During the Second World War he served aboard Coventry from 22 August 1939-May 1940. Terry would have been present when she was damaged on 1 January 1940 in a German air attack on the Shetland Islands. He was invalided due to heart disease on 6 November 1940.
