Robert George was born 16 December 1893 at Sennen Cove, Cornwall. Enlisting with the Royal Navy on 14 July 1913 George served as Stoker 1st Class for six years before being discharged on 21 July 1920. Re-joining the service on 17 February 1921 he served aboard a number of vessels including Renown, Glorious and Beaufort. Shore pensioned on 13 February 1936 and released from service on 18 August 1945.
