Queen Alexandra
1905 - Presentation desk object inscribed on the reverse of the silver paper clip "Presented to / Georgiana Countess Howe / by / Queen Alexandra / Jan. 1905".
The base, (125 x 75mm) has the Queen's cypher "AA / crown" in gold laid down at the lower part, above which is an oval portrait of the Queen set in the centre of a decorative border of "diamond and rubies" in appearance. This lifts to serve as a paper clip.
The Countess Howe (1860 - 1906) was the daughter of the 7th Duke of Marlborough, sister of Lord Randolph Churchill. An unusual and impressive item.
