(x) The Major David Underwood Collection of collection of Royal Visits and Tours to India, 1876-1912
The Royal visit to India 1875-76
Albert Edward, Prince of Wales
1876 (13 Feb.) Autograph Letter from Albert Edward in Camp Jhumaon Terraie to "Mrs. [Alice] Spencer" over five sides reading "Many, many thanks for your excessively kind and amusing letter received this morning and I am so glad that you are feeling better and enjoying yourself more in Bombay ... We have desired being at Bombay on the 11th and am in hopes Sir P.W. will ask you to dinner that evening and the gay Admiral (with whom I am sure you will flirt desperately) will I trust ask you the 12th as he has kindly asked me to break bread with him before we leave."
Together with a small envelope (102x80mm) addressed in the Prince of Wales' hand to "Mrs. A Spencer" in Bombay, without postal markings and a few faults. A good pair.

Notes: Written while hunting at the base of the Himalayas. The Smallpox outbreak in March 1876 would mean that the Prince of Wales would have to return to HMS Serapis which greatly affected these plans.
