1858 (13 Sept.) an appealing cover to Locarno, Switzerland bearing 1854 1/- dull blue horizontal strip of four and single plus 1857 roulette 4d. pale dull rose (2, one folded over the edge of the envelope and is defective) with indistinct numeral cancellations, marked "Regd 660" and "4/2" rate mark in red ink, with wide crown/"registered", "PD" in circle, Calais transit and French "chargé"; an array of backstamps with Hepburn despatch oval. Melbourne. London (13.11), Basel and Locarno arrival. A striking cover.

Pays 1/- registration, 6d. ship letter, 2/2d. to U.K. and 1/- each to France and Switzerland. Carried on the E.& A. 'European' from Melbourne to Suez and on the 'Teviot' from Suez to Southampton
