1855 (21 Aug.) wrapper to Paris bearing 2d. Stars, plate 4 (defective corner) and 1847-54 Embossed 6d. purple tied by "409" numerals with Jersey open-top despatch c.d.s. in black, also the distinctive "Jersey crowned "registered" handstamp in black (only two of these recorded), the London tall type crowned "registered" in red, "PD" in circle, French "chargé" in black and Calais transit (23.8); the reverse with London transit (obscured), Paris arrival (24.8) and two large red wax seals of Calais to Paris "bureau/ambulants". A clean and important cover; this is the second of only two known examples of the first type crowned Registered before the introduction of the second type in 29th December 1858.
