Letter of Transmission
1833 (22 June) letter from the Post Office, Campbell Town which reads, "Received from John Leake a letter addressed to 'William Millikin Esq, General Post Office London' - containing two Bills ... for £800 ... and £200. The above letter for transmission by this day's post to Launceston" and signed by the post master.


This is the earliest receipt for a letter with a valuable enclosure that we have seen, pre-dating the Money Letter system by 9 years. (not illustrated)
