British Forces: 1860 (9 Nov.) envelope and letter to Lieut. Geoffrey Mairis, "Hospital Ship Sir William Peel off the Peiho, North China", sent "Via Marseilles" and bearing 1855-57 6d. with 2d. Blue, plate 8, tied by Clifton duplex and bearing a fine strike of the large handstruck "1d" in red alongside, the reverse with London (10.11) and Hong Kong (25.12) c.d.s. The letter gives thanks that his injury is not so serious. An unusual letter addressed to a hospital ship
