H.M.S. 'Sampson': 1858 (17 Feb.) envelope to F. Webber, H.M.S. Sampson. Hong Kong "(or elsewhere)", "via Southampton" bearing 1855-57 6d. tied by Brighton sideways duplex and a fine strike of unframed "missent-to/devonport" struck in blue, the reverse with London c.d.s. (18.2) then Devonport (10.6) and London (11.6) c.d.s. (held up for four months); some light vertical wrinkling affects the adhesive stamp. With the original letter written in pencil. A scarce misdirection marking which was held for an unusually long time


1858年2月17日英國Brighton 原來寄香港屯駐中的英國戰艦"Sampson" 上F.Webber 信函. 貼1855-57年6d 票, 為蓋有稀見的藍色 "Missent To Devonport" 印記, 因此函2月寄出時, 錯誤地寄到英國Devonport 港口的一艘名字相似船上. 背面蓋2月18日倫敦日戳, 6月10日Devonport 日戳及6月11日倫敦日戳 (不尋地停留了四個月之久).
