1843 (5 July) printed circular from Nye, Parkin & Co, Canton to F. Huth & Co in London "One printed sheet" and "via Falmouth", rated "1/-" with "INDIA" in large oval and London c.d.s. (13.11) on the flap; there is a vertical filing fold, otherwise fresh and fine.


There are long sections relating to trade over the past few years and stocks on hand but includes, "...we beg now to inform you of the formal exchange of the ratified Treaty of Peace between Great Britain and China on the 26th ultimo at Hongkong, the two governments being represented respectively by H.E. Sir Henry Pottinger bart., G.C.B., and H.E. Keying, the Imperial Commissioner. The Island of Hongkong has since been proclaimed a separate British Colony, to be governed by a governor and Legislative Council. H.E. Sir Henry Pottinger has assumed charge of the Government of the Colony; and has been pleased to direct that the present city shall henceforth be distinguished and known by Her Majesty's name - VICTORIA". Later, "The Hong merchants have been called upon by the authorities to clear off the remaining balances of the debts of the bankrupt hongs amounting together to nearly two millions of dollars ... It is understood that the co-hong system will cease at the end of this month". An important and desirable document


1843年7月5日從中國廣州 Nye, Parkin & Co, Canton 寄到倫敦的 F. Huth & Co 的印刷通告, 封上 寫有 “單張印刷紙” 和“ via Falmouth” 字樣, 遞送費為“1s”, 帶有大橢圓形 "INDIA" 戳和倫敦11月13日日戳在封舌上; 除函有一個垂直的折疊痕. 否則保存尚為良好. 該單張內容闡述南京條由英國璞鼎查與清庭耆英正式交換的情况及廣州十三行在當時的變化. 及廣州公行制度 (Co-hong system) 將會於該月, 即7月底停止運作等事項. 一份重要且極具收藏價值的文件.
