1885 envelope (225x100mm; opened-out) ex the Methuen correspondence to Somerset bearing, on reverse, 1d. (6) tied by "barkly/g.w." c.d.s. and showing Cape Town (29.4), Taunton and arrival datestamps, the face showing a fine strike of the despatch c.d.s., manuscript "6d" and the only known example of the unframed "Insufficiently Paid" h.s. of Griqualand West with manuscript "over ½oz" alongside; the envelope with some faults.
