1866 (May-June) envelopes (3, two with minor imperfections) ex the same correspondence to Robert Hamond on board H.M.S. Searus at Cape Town, each sent at a privileged rate of 6d. for ½ ounce applied to single letters addressed to naval officers serving overseas between 1 June 1857 and 31 December 1869; and 1868 (Jan.) entire from London to a member of the 9th. Regiment at Cape Town franked at 6d. when the privilege rate previously applicable to single letters addressed to naval officers was extended to army officers serving in the colonies
