Charles I (1625-1649), Group H, Shilling, 1645-1646, Type 4.6, Tower (under Parliament), crowned bust 2 left, value behind, rev. small square-topped shield over short cross moline, 6.12g, 1h, m.m. sceptre (Sharp H2/2; Brooker 567 same dies; North 2234; Spink 2803), striking splits to peripheries and a ragged edge at 7-9 o'clock, otherwise handsome gunmetal tone with a deceptively bold portrait, a really good very fine, very rare, especially in this condition
