1857 (4 May) mourning envelope ex the Feilden correspondence from London to Port Natal, bearing embossed 1/- green with three good margins and cancelled with indistinct numeral, the reverse with despatch (4.5) datestamp and a fine strike of the very rare "dartmouth-packet-letter" P1 datestamp (6.5) in blue, despatched on the Dartmouth packet letter arriving in Cape Town on 28 June. Despite the Rennie contract being in place form 1 January 1857 this letter was taken on to Natal by the private sailing ship Lady of the Lake, arriving on 24 July, Natal charges not marked. Photo
