1853 (Feb.) envelope used during the Cape and Australian packet service from Cape Town "p R.M.S. Str. Sydney" to London, rated "4" and "1/-" and showing "general post office/Crown/cape town" handstamp, and 1853 (Nov.) and (Dec.) envelopes, believed to have been posted in Grahamstown during the Frontier War, charged "8" for posting at an inland office and again "8" on delivery in the U.K., both sent on the private ship "Victoria" after the collapse of the Australian packet service.
